二、Research aspect

In the support of Si-Soft project, the academic community and the industrial circles in our country will establish the ability of the hardware design platform for SoC. However, a complete system is not only including hardware, but also having embedded software system which could be an pivot of a SoC platform. According to a research report, the efforts of embedded software platform design is about 80% of entire system, it is much more than hardware platform. It should establish different embedded software platform base on their product applied field. Therefore, we can expect that it will need of a large amount of people to deal with establishing embedded software platform for product applied field. Consequently, it will make the members of our laboratory to build up the ability of SoC system analysis, modeling, and system verification and guide for reusable embedded software/hardware IP by executing the National Science Council projects and cooperating with industrial circles.

Our laboratory will establish an allied research platform for digital still camera, video camera, and portable tele-homecare system. Because it need to integrate many design technology in a chip. Therefore, digital camera and other extended products is the portable a/v device that the academic community and the industrial circles put much effort on presentlyThe hosting professor had been in research center and the industrial circles for many years, he is familiar with every software/hardware design knowledge and accomplished developing work of many high-level technical products.
